Building the Taj cikan

Hello world!!!!

My name is Mink Amalie. A few years ago my grandpa came to my house in Byron Bay to help me and my family build a pen for our chickens. Because my Dad is an awesome architect, he designed me the best chicken pen in the world, by far....

We used snake proof wire to keep out the snakes and rats, timber to frame it up, plastic cells that look cool and provide shade, corrugated iron roofing to provide shelter, metal hollow section for the doors, and concrete blocks to enclose the base so that the foxes cant dig underneath..

This is a photo of Grandpa Robin at the official opening of the pen which we called the TAJ CIKAN. This name comes from its reference to the architectural masterpiece in India called the Taj Mahal which is a palace of the kings....Grandpa's best friend Uncle Tony made us a sign for the finishing touches which we mounted on the pen.

The Taj Cikan is home to 12 chickens at present. We have 5 Silkies (Bantams), 2 wine dots and 5 red laying hens. All  my chickens have names that were given to them by me and my sister Lucky. my chickens are the luckiest girls in the world to have a designer home like the taj cikan.
